The problem of women in Philippine
~the NGO supports of women in Philippine~
1 Violence
Direct violence is as follows.
First , Direct violence payment. Women’s payment is law more than Men’s .
Next, it is sexual abuse. For example, it is Incest, Prostitution and Sexual harassment.
Structual violence is Philippine culture.
In Philippine , there are many situation women weaker than men’s. For example many men think part of women is home work and take care of children. Are which is poor education, men don’t take Gender education in particularly. So, In those are because of early marriage they can’t work and depend on men.
2 Self-reliance
Women should go to supports seminar.
If they can improve knowledge and capability . For example , Gender education , Gender awareness, Equality between men and women and livelihood skills.
3 Obstacles
Obstacle is Philippine culture.
However men take Gender education .It is difficult to change men’s have discrimination against women .
The poor is few Gender education in particularly. Because, people in those are can’t get enough money to go to school. And there are few NGO for women supports.
For the reasons stated above women miss opportunity to independence.
4 Solidarity
The first community is TUBURAN (TUBURAN for rural women empowerment and development incorporated).
TUBURAN think the main process of women independence is knowledge and capability building. So, TUBURAN hold women seminar. There are teach Gender education and Economic Empowerment.
Next community is JPC (Justice Peace Compassion).
JPC project is peace education and training, Grassroot community organization and development, Justice and peace advocacy and Research on documentation and publication.
Activity of JPC hold seminar. There are teach Gender education and Gender study of women readership.
5 Commitment
It is important to have to do with NGO. We should visit NGO for women supports and listen to women. And , we have to think quality between men and women of the sexes.
