Political killings −exposure in Dumaguete−
I went to Sibulan in exposure. And I stayed in Thelma family. I interviewed Raman Silvano there. Raman is living same land. Raman’s father was a farmer group leader.
His father rented government’s land on 1986. This land is located in Santa Catalina. His father’s group had demands of their rights. They did demonstration in front of government office.
But one day, one farmer group leader was shot by gun. Because of NPA suspected him. He is dead the way of go back his home.
Direct violence is killing of NPA. Next direct violence is Philippino government ignored former rights.
Structural violence is former don’t have former’s land. Next is Farmer can’t hope realization of their rights, and Philippino government is allowed to ignore farmer rights by the Philippino society.
His farmers group already acted for self-reliance. They taught their bad situation each other. They talked about their not have rights. They demonstrated in front of government office.
But other former leader is dead. Raman’s father was afraid of killing. So his family evacuated from Santa Catalina to Palawan. Raman think that if his father staying at their place, he is dead. Because farmer group leader is dead one after another.
Obstacles is killing. That is why most of the farmer group leader evacuated to another place. Even if they stand up for self reliance, they aren’t acting after die.
Another, farmer have few land about 1~2 hectare. So farmer has low income.
Solidarity is protected by NGO.
・Justice and Peace center
This NGO office in Silliman university. This school established “Justice and Peace center” since 2005. The NGO make Ciliman university teacher and professor.
The NGO mainly want to solve problem in human rights. The NGO activity is tell the people about how important for human rights, present villege condition and so on. Justice and Peace center help village people self reliance.
Other Solidality is Peace talk between the NPA and Phillipine government.
I can act for join the NGO’s, government and international efforts to reduce obstacles.
And educate the children, youth and adult regording the problems.
I touched political killing real situation. I heared political killing victims story and NGO’s activity. I’m thinking more deep than in Japan. This problem is very difficult. I think that land reform has relation poverty. Victims overcome this problem is not only evacuate. I think that this problem solve to important of change government, act local NGO.
I’m continue think how to solve this problem.
